Job summary

Counterculture in the UK is seeking a junior governance professional to support a range of governance services for students’ unions, charities and HE bodies. You will assist with meetings, minutes, filings and policy development while progressing through the CGI Qualifying Programme.

The role offers funded learning, exposure to senior stakeholders, and a path into broader governance advisory work within Counterculture’s growing practice. Remote/home-based with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Interest in and commitment to the highest standards of governance.
• Excellent organisation with ability to manage multiple priorities to deadline.
• Proactive, organised and detail oriented with strong written and verbal skills.
• Confident working with senior stakeholders and handling confidential information.
• Good IT skills and ability to use Microsoft 365 and board portals.

Responsibilities

• Support planning of board and committee meetings with agendas, packs and action tracking.
• Attend meetings and produce accurate minutes in a timely manner.
• Maintain governance calendars, statutory records and filings with Companies House and Charity Commission.
• Assist in developing governance policies and procedures.
• Support governance reviews and board effectiveness projects.
• Contribute to one-off projects such as formation, AGMs and constitutional reviews.
