Job summary

Brent Council invites compassionate people to become Brent Shared Lives Carers, opening their homes to adults who need support to live independently. You’ll provide companionship, care and a family environment, with flexible hours from short breaks to long-term living.

You don’t need formal care experience; you’ll receive full training and ongoing support, as well as payment for your time and expenses. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old
• Live in the UK full-time or have leave to remain
• Have time and space to support someone either full or part-time
• Have a spare bedroom (if offering overnight support)
• Be supported by your household
• Caring, patient, and supportive
• Committed to providing consistent care and stability

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship, support and care in a family environment
• Care for adults aged 18+ who need extra support to live independently
• Be prepared for background checks, interviews, training and home visits
