Job summary

Rendall & Rittner is seeking a Portfolio Accountant to own a designated portfolio of residential properties, ensuring accurate records, robust controls, and timely financial reporting. The role focuses on service quality, audit readiness, and effective communication with auditors, boards and property managers.

You will balance reporting accuracy with deadlines, identifying issues early and driving improvements in controls while maintaining a hands‑on approach to day‑to‑day accounting tasks

Qualifications

• Accounting qualification (full or part qualified – CIMA / ACCA / AAT) or qualified by experience.
• Experience within the property industry.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of accounting systems (Propman desirable).
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Strong analysis and problem-solving capability.

Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts including allocation of costs.
• Organising audits, posting journals and responding to queries.
• Preparing trial balances and management reporting.
• Approving draft accounts and liaising with boards and property managers.
• Preparing budget templates and uploading onto systems.
• Reviewing handover information and setting up new clients.
• Monitoring cashflow and managing outstanding creditors.
• Preparing VAT returns where applicable.
• Preparing and controlling void service charges.
