Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd is recruiting an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer for a Local Authority in the South West on an initial 6-month contract. The role sits within a busy enforcement team with a strong focus on identifying and tackling unauthorised HMOs across the borough.

You will lead investigations into suspected unlicensed HMOs, conduct inspections, gather evidence for enforcement action, and progress notices where required while liaising with landlords and tenants to secure

Qualifications

• Proven experience working within Private Sector Housing, with a strong focus on HMO enforcement.
• In-depth knowledge of HMO licensing, housing legislation, and enforcement processes.
• Experience investigating unauthorised or non-compliant HMOs.
• Ability to work independently, managing complex cases from start to finish.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading on investigations into suspected unlicensed and unauthorised HMOs
• Conducting inspections of HMO properties to assess compliance with current legislation
• Gathering evidence and building robust cases to support enforcement action
• Serving statutory notices and progressing enforcement action where required
• Responding to complaints relating to housing conditions within the private rented sector
• Liaising with landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders to achieve compliance
• Managing a caseload of complex investigations and maintaining accurate records
