Job summary

Education Learning Trust’s Werneth School is seeking a committed HLTA to support reading and literacy for pupils aged 11–16, across mainstream lessons and targeted interventions.

You will deliver small-group and one-to-one support, contribute to assessment and review processes, and work with teachers, families and the SEND team to remove barriers to learning.

ELT offers a supportive community, personalised induction, and professional development, with safeguarding at the core.

About the Role:

Werneth School is seeking a committed and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant at an exciting time of growth and development. This role is available for someone with experience, expertise or an interest in developing reading and literacy skills.

You will support high-quality teaching and learning for students aged 11–16 with a range of additional needs, working across mainstream lessons and targeted interventions. The role includes delivering small-group and individual support, contributing to assessment and review processes, and working closely with teachers, families and the wider SEND team to remove barriers to learning.

Our SEND provision includes a strong universal offer. You will join a collaborative team of experienced professionals who meet regularly to plan, review and refine support.

We are looking for someone who is patient, proactive and ambitious for young people, with strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive practice. In return, we offer a supportive school community, a personalised induction and high-quality professional development.
