Job summary

St Anne Line Catholic Infant School and Nursery is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and experienced HLTA / Teaching Assistant to join our warm and supportive team. This is a full‑time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 3:15pm, and will also include Midday Assistant duties.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths grade C (or equivalent).
  • Experience of supporting children with SEND or early learning needs.
  • Willingness to work closely with class teachers and the wider support team.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality phonics teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Cover lessons when a teacher is absent and deliver learning during PPA time.
  • Provide midday assistant duties as part of the role.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Support pupils with learning, maintaining high expectations for achievement and behaviour.

You will:

  • Have excellent organisation and communication skills;
  • Be positive, nurturing and motivating to support pupils in their learning;
  • Have high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour;
  • Be patient, compassionate and understanding of children with social, emotional and mental health needs;
  • Be warm, welcoming and sensitive to families from diverse backgrounds;
  • Be reflective and committed to ongoing professional development;
  • Be flexible, adaptable and confident in a busy school environment.
  • Be confident in delivering high-quality phonics teaching through Read Write Inc.;
  • Be prepared to confidently cover lessons when a teacher is absent and deliver learning during PPA time, ensuring continuity and high standards for all pupils.
  • Have GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in maths and English
