Job summary

The Castle School in Thornbury is seeking a proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support students through targeted interventions under the SENDCO. You will run small-group and 1:1 sessions focused on emotional wellbeing and learning support.

With at least two years’ SEND experience and GCSEs in English and Maths at C/4 or above, you will plan effective sessions, monitor progress with data, maintain SEND plans, and contribute to admin, EHCP reviews and wider school activities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with SEND students, ideally SEMH needs.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Strong communication and organisational skills with secondary students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run individual and group sessions for social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Use data to identify target students, conduct screening, and monitor impact of interventions.
• Maintain SEND support plans and databases, assist EHCP reviews, and handle relevant admin tasks.
• Provide feedback to parents and teachers, support break duties, homework clubs and school trips.
