Job summary

Stockton Academy seeks a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant for maternity cover to support teaching across classes during PPA time. The role is fixed term to start 4 January 2027 and finish 31 August 2027, with a 15-hour per week contract.

The successful candidate will hold a HLTA qualification or equivalent, demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and learning, and work flexibly with staff to deliver an engaging, enquiry-based curriculum and high-quality support for pupils.

Qualifications

• Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent.
• Meet National HLTA Standards or equivalent HLTA standards.
• Willingness to work flexibly across school responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Undertake whole class cover (PPA time) across school.
• Support learning and maintain high standards of student engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement an enquiry‑based curriculum.
