Job summary

Kent County Council's Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking (UAS) Children’s Service is recruiting a Higher Learning Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to deliver ESOL tutoring at Reception Centres and Children’s Homes in Kent. The role focuses on supporting learning, engagement and safe educational experiences for vulnerable young people.

Qualifications

• Experienced in delivering robust learning plans that meet the ESOL education programme.
• Understand safety and wellbeing of UAS children.
• Able to adapt teaching approaches to best meet learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tutoring sessions to individuals and groups of UAS children.
• Promote educational engagement, attainment and progress for young people in care awaiting transfer.
• Collaborate with reception centre staff and social care teams to support resettlement and progression.
