Qualifications

• Direct, proven experience working within Key Stage 1 (KS1) settings.
• Clear understanding of primary education and child development in early years/KS1.
• Confidence and capability to lead and manage occasional whole-class cover when required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support within KS1 classrooms to boost pupil engagement and attainment.
• Deliver targeted learning and phonics intervention sessions to small groups and individual pupils.
• Assist in monitoring and recording pupil progress, contributing to lesson feedback and assessment activities.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment with high pupil engagement and wellbeing.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, working with teaching staff.
• Assist teachers in planning, doing, and reviewing, including record keeping and resources.
• Help implement behaviour management strategies and record incidents on CPOMs.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCPs and SEND Support Plans.
• Promote safeguarding of children at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality support within Key Stage 1 classrooms to boost pupil engagement and academic attainment.
• Deliver targeted learning and phonics intervention sessions to small groups and individual pupils under guidance from the Class Teacher and SENDCo.
• Assist in monitoring and recording pupil progress, contributing to lesson feedback and assessment activities.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment, maintaining high standards of pupil engagement and well-being.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, working alongside teaching staff to deliver learning activities.
• Assist teachers in the plan, do, review cycle, including record keeping and resource preparation.
• Help implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies and record incidents on CPOMs.
• Monitor pupil progress, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to EHCPs and SEND Support Plans.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times.

Candidate Requirements

• Essential: Direct, proven experience working within Key Stage 1 (KS1) settings.
• Essential: A clear understanding of primary education and child development in early years/KS1.
• Essential: Confidence and capability to lead and manage occasional whole class cover when required.
• Desirable: Experience delivering structured phonics interventions, preferably using the Unlocking Letters and Sounds scheme.
• An inspirational, adaptable support staff member dedicated to building belief and helping every child thrive.
• Proven experience working with primary-aged children, ideally supporting pupils with SEND in KS1.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic school team.
• A reflective practitioner committed to ongoing professional development.
• A positive attitude, resourcefulness, and a sense of humor.
