Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Gravesend

Location: Gravesend, Kent

Contract Type: Full-Time, temporary to permanent

Day rate: £100 - £110

Role Overview:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a crucial role in supporting the teaching staff and enhancing the learning experience of students. You will work closely with teachers to plan and deliver high-quality learning activities, provide targeted support to students, and contribute to the overall development of the school community in the heart of Gravesend.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, ensuring a high standard of education.
  2. Support individual and small groups of students with their learning needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  3. Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  4. Manage classroom behavior effectively and create a positive learning environment.
  5. Collaborate with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support students with additional needs.
  6. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of school policies and practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. HLTA qualification or equivalent experience is essential.
  2. Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred.
  3. Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  6. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
