A specialist school in Enfield is seeking a confident and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. The HLTA will play a key role in supporting students with additional needs, delivering tailored interventions and promoting an inclusive environment. The Schoolare seeking a confident and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to jointheirdedicated team and help deliver high-quality support across the curriculum.
Key responsibilities
The HLTA will support students at the KS3 Therapeutic Centre and KS4 Alternative Provision by:
Support and lead planned lessons under the guidance of teaching staff
Deliver targeted interventions and small group sessions in core subjects and life skills Maths, Science
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with EHCPs, tailoring learning to individual needs
Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to support emotional regulation
Assist with curriculum planning and classroom preparation
Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure consistent pupil support
Promote an inclusive, respectful, and safe classroom environment
Training in Team Teach, positive behaviour support, or trauma-informed approaches.
Knowledge of restorative practices and therapeutic interventions.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH
Excellent communication skills and a proactive, child-centred approach
The ability to work flexibly and independently across different age groups and needs
A calm and patient attitude, with strong behaviour management skills
