Job summary

Vetro Recruitment in Chester is seeking a proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with Science Technician responsibilities to support pupils with SEND.

You will work with teaching staff to run practical science activities, manage equipment, and help pupils develop confidence and independence in a safe, well‑organised learning space. Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils, preferably with SEND, in an educational setting.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication with colleagues, pupils and parents.

• Willingness to undertake safeguarding and SEND training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and clear away science equipment and materials, ensuring safety and organisation.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support pupils with special educational needs within a nurturing, inclusive environment set in beautiful grounds. You will work closely with teaching staff to facilitate engaging Science activities and ensure a safe, well‑organised learning space.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and clearing away Science equipment and practical materials, ensuring safety and organisation.
• Supporting the delivery of practical Science activities, making them accessible and inclusive for all pupils.
• Monitoring stock levels and supporting safe storage of resources in line with health and safety procedures.
• Assisting pupils individually and in small groups to build confidence, independence, and practical Science skills.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and well‑organised Science learning environment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Relevant experience working with children, particularly pupils with SEND, in an educational setting.
• Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills.
• Ability to support planned Science learning and adapt to pupils’ individual needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and positive pupil outcomes.
• Willingness to undertake relevant Science, safety, and SEND training.
