Teaching Personnel are working closely with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Portsmouth, looking to appoint a passionate and committed History Teacher to join from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role with full teaching responsibilities.

You will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to contribute to Key Stage 5 for suitably qualified applicants. We are seeking a teacher who can bring historical events to life, spark curiosity, and promote critical thinking among students.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons that support student progress and foster a passion for learning.

Plan and prepare lessons in accordance with the curriculum and departmental schemes of work.

Mark and assess students' work, providing clear and constructive feedback.

Track student progress and implement effective strategies to support achievement.

Participate fully in departmental and whole-school meetings, CPD, and collaborative planning.

Uphold high standards of classroom behaviour and academic performance.

Support the wider school community, including involvement in tutor responsibilities and extracurricular activities.

The Ideal Candidate

Holds UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in History or a related field.

Demonstrates a deep knowledge and enthusiasm for History.

Has experience teaching History in a secondary school setting (KS3 and KS4 essential).

Is committed to inclusive teaching and differentiated instruction.

Possesses strong organisational and classroom management skills.

Is a reflective and collaborative team member who is keen to develop professionally.
