Job summary

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks an enthusiastic Biomedical Assistant (Higher Level) to support the Histopathology team at Rotherham Hospital. The role covers pre-analytical processing, specimen handling, data entry, and digital slide scanning as part of a multidisciplinary service.

You will work across specimen reception, preparation, and processing, with duties including use of laboratory equipment, slide storage, and MDT meeting preparation.

Responsibilities

• Specimen reception, preparation and processing.
• Data entry and operation of laboratory equipment.
• Filing and retrieval of specimens, glass slides and paraffin blocks.
• Digital slide scanning and preparation for MDT meetings.
• Deal with direct queries from medical staff and other service users.
• Assist scientific staff in laboratory activities.
• Store and retrieve biological material.
