Job summary

Cancer Research UK Scotland Institute in Glasgow is seeking a Histology Assistant to support and perform the production and maintenance of the Histology department. Key tasks include microtomy, embedding, tissue reception, and dissection within a collaborative scientific environment.

You should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biomedical science and have demonstrable experience with histology techniques; training is provided for strong candidates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biomedical science or equivalent.
  • Experience with histology procedures is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and conduct procedures required for production and maintenance of the Histology department.
  • Apply skills including microtomy, tissue embedding, specimen reception, tissue handling and dissection.
  • Additional skills such as immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridisation, cryomicrotomy, and digital slide scanning are advantageous.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with scientists and technicians; communicate effectively.
