Job summary

The CRUK Scotland Institute in Glasgow seeks a Scientific Officer to support and perform histology procedures, including microtomy, embedding, and tissue handling. The role requires a biomedical science background with relevant histology experience; training is provided for candidates with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's or Master's in biomedical science and be comfortable working both independently and with researchers and technicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in biomedical science with relevant histology techniques.
• Demonstrable experience with histology techniques is preferred, with training provided as needed.
• Excellent attention to detail, planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist and conduct procedures required for the production and maintenance of the Histology department.
• Apply skills in microtomy, tissue embedding, specimen reception, tissue handling and dissection.
• Collaborate with scientists and technicians on research projects.
• Support training and development within the Histology Services.
