Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital in London seeks an experienced, highly capable leader to head the Histology Laboratory within Paediatric Laboratory Medicine NHS Foundation Trust. You will drive delivery of high-quality diagnostic tissue services and lead a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires HCPC-registered biomedical scientist with senior leadership experience, a strong background in ISO 15189 compliance, and ability to manage workforce planning, budgets and stakeholder relationships in a

Qualifications

BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
MSc, FIBMS or equivalent higher degree level qualification or equivalent experience
Registration with HCPC
Post-registration experience in Histology Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory
Leadership/supervisory experience within a diagnostic laboratory environment
Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards (ISO15189, HCPC, IBMS)

Responsibilities

Providing operational and strategic leadership for the Histology Laboratory service.
Leading service development, innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
Ensuring service continuity, resilience and workforce planning.
Managing staff performance, development and wellbeing.
Supporting budgetary and resource management.
Developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensuring compliance with ISO 15189, HCPC, IBMS and regulatory standards.
Leading education, training and competency programmes within the department.
