The University of Manchester is seeking a motivated Technician – Manchester Brain Bank to provide specialist technical support for processing, storage, and use of human tissue for diagnostic neuropathology and research.

You will work across histology, immunohistochemistry, molecular testing, quality assurance and governance to ensure high-quality, clinically annotated tissue and data are available to researchers.

Qualificações

• Degree-level qualification in biomedical sciences or equivalent experience.
• Practical laboratory experience in histology, IHC and molecular testing.
• Solid understanding of the Human Tissue Act 2004 and HTA governance.
• Excellent attention to detail and meticulous record keeping.

Responsabilidades

• Process, store and distribute human tissue samples in compliance with HTA licensing and policies.
• Perform histological and immunohistochemical staining to support diagnostics and research.
• Conduct basic molecular testing, including APOE genotyping and DNA extraction optimization.
• Maintain accurate records for traceability, QA and reporting.
• Support day-to-day lab operations: equipment maintenance, stock control, ordering, and safety.
