Job summary

HealthJobs Ltd in Carlisle, United Kingdom, is seeking a Band 6 Histology Biomedical Scientist for an ongoing locum assignment. The role offers flexible Full Time/Part Time hours and an attractive hourly rate of £26.00.

You will perform specialist Histology procedures, maintain quality standards, and contribute to IQC/EQA efforts while rotating through histology sections in a patient-focused laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or IBMS-accredited qualification.
• HCPC Registration as Biomedical Scientist.
• IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology/Histopathology (or equivalent).
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Responsibilities

• Undertake specialist Histology investigations and technical procedures (tissue processing, microtomy, staining, IHC).
• Ensure prompt and accurate processing of patient specimens using automated and manual methods per SOPs.
• Rotate through specialist Histology sections to maintain a comprehensive diagnostic service.
• Operate, monitor and troubleshoot laboratory equipment with maintenance checks.
• Contribute to IQC and EQA schemes supporting UKAS accreditation and quality improvement.

Education

BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or IBMS-accredited equivalent

HCPC Registration

IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology/Histopathology
