Job summary

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Associate Practitioner in histology to support a specialised diagnostic service across the pathology department. Under supervision, you will handle specimens, perform routine histology tasks, and assist in quality control to help deliver accurate patient diagnoses.

The role involves rotating through settings such as specimen reception, embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, and immunohistochemistry, while maintaining safety and data protection

Qualifications

• Foundation degree or BSc level training in pathology or science.
• Good manual dexterity and accuracy in handling specimens.
• Ability to follow SOPs and work under supervision.
• Developing competence in routine histology techniques.

Responsibilities

• Participate in routine Cellular Pathology rotas across areas.
• Prepare and process body fluid and tissue specimens.
• Assist in embedding, microtomy, and H&E staining.
• Maintain quality control and adherence to safety policies.
