Job summary

GAP Group Ltd. in Northampton is recruiting an experienced Hire Manager to lead the Hire Desk within our Plant & Tool division.

You will manage a team of Hire & Sales Coordinators and Drivers to deliver safe, efficient, customer-focused service while driving performance and revenue. As Hire Manager, you will balance operational control with commercial focus, ensure compliance, and oversee administration and sales activity across the depot.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing the day to day operation of the Hire Desk and Transport function
• Allocating, prioritising, and overseeing workloads for Hire & Sales Co ordinators and Drivers
• Recruiting, motivating, coaching, and developing team members to achieve high performance
• Ensuring adequate staffing cover, including holidays, absence, and weekend attendance
• Driving add on sales performance through proactive promotion of consumables and accessories
• Overseeing stock control of consumables and resale items to meet demand
• Ensuring accurate processing of on hires, off hires, exchanges, and transport activity
• Monitoring delivery and collection performance to meet customer timescales
• Reviewing reports, customer queries, and administrative issues, taking corrective action where required
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety, compliance, and operational control
• Taking a hands on role during periods of holiday or absence where required
