Job summary

A canal boating company near Devizes is seeking an enthusiastic Hire Boat Wharf Operations Manager. You will lead a team, ensuring the smooth operation of the hire fleet during the operational season and oversee winter maintenance if desired. Strong leadership skills and practical boating knowledge required. The role offers an average of 32 hours per week, with flexible hours mainly on weekends. Qualifications

• Experience supervising staff in a customer-facing or operational environment.
• Fit and agile for an active outdoor role.
• Flexible with working hours mainly Fri/Sat/Mon.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating all wharf operations and ensuring smooth turnaround of hire fleet.
• Leading and motivating engineers, cleaners and wharf operatives.
• Planning boat logistics and movements on changeover days.

Skills

Supervisory or team leadership experience

Clear, confident communication with staff and customers

Understanding of boat systems

Practical, hard-working and able to prioritise under pressure

Computer literacy for scheduling and record-keeping

Education

Full clean driving licence

First Aid certificate (or willingness to train)

Tools

Basic woodwork skills
