Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Hip & Knee Arthroplasty Surgeon for a permanent role, primarily based at Royal Preston Hospital. The post involves leading knee arthroplasty services within a fully integrated Orthopaedic Directorate across two sites.

The successful candidate will join an established team, participate in MDTs and teaching, and contribute to governance frameworks.

Qualifications

• GMC Specialist Register in Trauma and Orthopaedics (or within 6 months of gaining entry) and willingness to participate in Teaching and Clinical Governance.
• Experience with major trauma and orthopaedic knee arthroplasty is expected.
• Registered to practice in the UK and eligible to work in the NHS.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the Orthopaedic knee service across the Trust.
• Participate in the Major Trauma on‑call rota (1:16) and MDT meetings.
• Provide elective and trauma care with an emphasis on hip and knee arthroplasty.
• Engage in teaching, clinical governance, and local guidelines.
• Cover Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley & South Ribble Hospital as required.
