Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Highways Technical Lead to shape major transport programmes in the UK and internationally. You’ll guide multidisciplinary engineering teams, set technical direction, and ensure safety, quality and performance on schemes used by millions.

You’ll work with clients including National Highways and Transport Scotland, drive digital engineering innovations, mentor engineers, and influence how projects are designed and delivered across a diverse portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or managing engineering design activities within highways, transportation or related infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical understanding of highways design and standards such as DMRB or equivalent.
• Experience delivering projects within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Commitment to safety, quality and technical excellence.
• Ability to build effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or equivalent professional accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical voice on complex highway schemes and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers across multidisciplinary teams.
• Shape technical delivery across multiple projects and programmes.
• Influence clients and drive adoption of smarter digital engineering practices.
