My client is seeking a motivated Site Engineer - Highways to join their team in Penrith, working on key National Highways schemes where you will play an important role in the successful delivery of construction works.

My client is a respected civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure and highways projects across the UK. With a strong pipeline of National Highways work and a reputation for delivering high-quality schemes safely and efficiently, they are now looking to strengthen their team by appointing a Site Engineer - Highways to support projects in the Penrith area.

The role and responsibilities

In this Site Engineer - Highways position, you will support the delivery of highways construction works and assist the wider engineering team with site coordination and technical support.

You will be doing the following:

• Carrying out setting out for highways construction works
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings and specifications
• Supporting the site team with daily engineering activities
• Checking and reviewing technical drawings and documentation
• Maintaining accurate site records and quality documentation
• Assisting with the coordination of subcontractors and site teams
• Monitoring progress and helping ensure works remain on programme
• Supporting health, safety and quality standards on site

Must have skills and experience

To be successful in this Site Engineer - Highways role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within highways or civil engineering
• Experience working on National Highways or major highways infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of highways construction methods and standards
• Experience with setting out and surveying equipment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or similar
• CSCS card (or equivalent)
