Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking a Highway Scheme Manager to lead a range of Highways construction and maintenance projects in the city. You will oversee carriageways, footways, drainage works and related schemes, ensuring safe delivery to programme and budget.

You will support and mentor frontline staff and apprentices, ensuring compliance with policies and delivering high-quality outcomes while maintaining strong health and safety standards across the worksites.

Qualifications

• Experience of Highway Management in a civil engineering environment.
• Ability to interpret design drawings and related construction works.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead in safe construction of Carriageways, Footways, Drainage and related works.
• Provide a management role across Highways to deliver programmes on time and within budget.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, designers, staff and apprentices.
