Job description

We're looking for a Highways Safety Inspector to join our Transportation team based in Birmingham. Due to the nature of this role, a full driving licence is essential.

Location: Thimble Mil Lane, Birmingham – required to visit sites for inspections

Hours: Permanent, full-time of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £26,208 - £28,000 per annum + benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Highways Safety Inspector working under Kier Transportation, you will:

  • Collect data relating to safety and future improvements to safeguard the travelling public, clients, and Kier.
  • Assist the Steward in all activities related to inspections.
Your daily tasks will include:
  • Identify defects on-site relating to all asset types.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Arrange and deliver enforcement letters.
  • Raise works and enquiries within the data management system, Confirm.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has excellent communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Is Lantra Highway Inspector qualified.
  • Can manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Can work independently and prioritize workload.
