Job summary

VolkerHighways in Hoddesdon is seeking a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to lead on-site commercial activities within our ICP & EV team. You will manage costs, maximise recovery, and maintain strong relationships with clients and the supply chain.

You will apply NEC/JCT contract knowledge, oversee subcontractor procurement, handle CVR reports, variations and invoices, and support forecasting and contract controls in a dynamic highway and street lighting environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity surveying for highways or civil projects.
• Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Ability to forecast costs and manage financial risk.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary commercial contact on site and advise on contractual and financial matters.
• Ensure accurate cost and value reporting and identify risks with mitigation.
• Procure and manage subcontractors including tender analysis and negotiations.
• Process subcontractor payments with compliant documentation.
• Measure works on site, maintain records, and manage variations and income agreements.
• Track certifications, payments and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Prepare monthly CVR reports, forecasts, accruals, and recovery reports.
• Reconcile receipts, manage aged debt, and support forecasting and controls.
• Authorise invoices and maintain works management system administration.
• Prepare and submit client KPIs and financial reports.
