Job summary

Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council in Aberystwyth invites an experienced highway projects manager to plan and deliver a programme of works, coordinating with Operational Managers to ensure service standards.

The role requires HND/HNC Civil Engineering or equivalent, 5+ years’ experience, a full UK driving licence, and strong budget, procurement and HR skills. The post offers hybrid working, generous leave, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • HND/HNC Civil Engineering or demonstrable evidence of a minimum of 5 years’ relevant successful experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Internal Auditor Certification (can be achieved when in post).
  • Practical experience in managing financial/budgetary management, procurement and human resources.
  • Practical experience of managing and effectively working with medium sized teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of the operational aspects of the identified service areas outlined in the Job description.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and manage the delivery of Highways Projects, including Winter Service provision.
  • Coordinate Emergency/Out-of-hours response.
  • Oversee the Annual Surface Dressing Programme.
  • Maintain Highways Network & Asset Quality Management Systems to ISO standards (ISO 45001, 15001 and 9001).

About the role

Under the general direction of the Service Manager- Network & Asset Maintenance, and in collaboration with Operational Managers, to plan, coordinate, and manage the delivery of Highways Projects, including:

  • Winter Service provision.
  • Emergency/Out-of-hours response.
  • Annual Surface Dressing Programme.
  • Maintenance of Highways Network & Asset Quality Management Systems to ISO standard (ISO 45001, 15001 and 9001).
About the candidate
