Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Highways Operative/Driver for our Blyth depot. You will help maintain and repair the county’s road network and work as part of a team delivering highway maintenance and construction tasks.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Highways.
• Experience in civil groundworks in a live highway environment.
• Ability to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out highway repairs and maintenance including paving, kerbs, and drainage.
• Install, maintain and repair drainage systems with safety precautions.
• Operate highway plant and equipment such as compactors and mini-excavators.
• Drive and maintain the security of non-HGV vehicles, with daily checks and logs.
