Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 months’ experience in relevant roles is required.
• Prepared to undertake training for LGV license if interested.
• Understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance works alongside a Chargehand.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with winter maintenance activities.
• Participate in various highways jobs with changing teams.

Job description

Summary

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.

Specialist Skills

• To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
• To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
• To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• Generally hold 12 months+ experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator
