Job summary

Ringway London in Guildford is looking for an Operative - General to perform a broad range of routine maintenance tasks at a fixed site. You will work with a Chargehand, respond to emergencies, and take part in winter duties as needed. Apprentices who have completed training are included in this role.

The position is permanent, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with opportunities to develop a range of general highway skills and safety awareness on-site.

Job Summary

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call‑outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.

Specialist Skills

• To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
• To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
• To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• Generally hold 12 months+ experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator
