Egis Road Operations M40 Ltd seeks Incident Support Operatives to join our team, carrying out highway maintenance and incident response tasks under supervision. Night shifts involve pothole repairs, safety fence repairs, carriageway sweeping, and general maintenance.

About the Role

  • Attend briefings and training to perform duties safely and sustainably.
  • Promote health, safety, and environmental awareness; report hazards to supervisors and care for personal and team safety.
  • Conduct safety/debris patrols, identify and secure defects on the carriageway.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, make recommendations to the Network Control Centre and coordinate with third parties, e.g., Police and NHTOs.
  • Perform highway maintenance, including litter picking, vegetation management, and emergency pothole repairs.
  • Carry out winter maintenance duties such as salt spreading as directed.
  • Act courteously towards the public and involved third parties.
  • Inspect drainage infrastructure and clear debris as needed.
  • Maintain signage visibility and report network defects promptly.
  • Communicate regularly with the Network Control Centre and Incident Support Supervisor during incidents.
  • Install and remove Emergency Traffic Management and maintain existing closures.
  • Install and remove diversion routes, undertake depot duties like sweeping, sign cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in winter maintenance and ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and adhere to company policies and safety initiatives.
What do we need from you

  • Green CSCS FISS (or higher) qualification, or working towards it.
  • HGV Category C license, or working towards it.
  • City and Guilds Winter Maintenance qualification, or working towards it.
  • Temporary Traffic Management Basic Course (TTMBC), or working towards it.
  • Ability to identify improvement areas and implement changes through effective communication and a drive to succeed.
  • Significant experience in safety and quality on high-speed strategic roads.
  • Capability to make informed decisions under pressure for timely issue resolution.
What's in it for you?

Shift pattern: 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts in a 4-on 4-off pattern.

Driving Licence: Essential.
