What will you be responsible for?

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll work within the Operative team, supporting the efficient and timely delivery of highway service requirements across the Somerset network. Your tasks will include reactive works, emergency response, minor civils and improvement works, winter maintenance activities, and supporting severe weather operations when required.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Contributing to customer care by working closely with team members, ensuring client and network users are treated politely and courteously
• Responding to highway defects within designated timescales, updating relevant parties via tablet devices, including the installation and removal of emergency traffic management signage
• Using tablet applications during incidents and emergency repairs, completing record sheets as needed to provide accurate records of works on the network
• Conducting daily defect reports on vehicles and ensuring they are cleaned and maintained properly

What are we looking for?

This role is ideal if you:

• Hold a full driving licence (LGV training will be provided once you meet necessary business targets)
• Can work independently and as part of a team, communicating faults or issues effectively
