Highways Maintenance Operative, Glastonbury

Location: Glastonbury, United Kingdom

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Job Description:

We are seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Transportation team based in Glastonbury. This role offers a competitive pension scheme, annual holiday entitlement, and other benefits.

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will support the Operative team in delivering highway services across the Somerset network. Your responsibilities include reactive works, emergency response, minor civils and improvement works, winter maintenance, and severe weather operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote customer care by working courteously with team members, clients, and network users
  • Respond to highway defects within designated timescales, updating relevant parties via tablet applications, including installation and removal of traffic management signage
  • Use tablet devices to record works and incidents accurately
  • Conduct daily defect reports on vehicles and ensure they are maintained and cleaned
Candidate Requirements:
  • Full driving license; LGV training provided upon meeting business targets
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, communicating faults effectively
