Job summary

Amey is seeking a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join the Staffordshire Account at the Lichfield Depot (ST16 2LP). The role is onsite across Staffordshire, focusing on routine and reactive maintenance and coordinating emergency responses with safety compliance.

You will operate across carriageway and footway maintenance tasks, support briefings, and liaise with stakeholders. Career growth opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Class 2 HGV (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Perform various highway maintenance tasks such as patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive instructions on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations for incident response, winter maintenance and gritting.
• Allocate and track time and resources using the allocated system.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients and customers.

Title: Highways Maintenance Operative

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic Staffordshire Account at our Lichfield Depot (ST16 2LP). This role will be carried out onsite and around Staffordshire.

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll play a crucial role in managing routine and reactive maintenance activities across our designated sections. Your responsibilities will span various maintenance aspects, including managing emergency response operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering effective communication among colleagues and stakeholders.

What You'll Do

• Perform various highway maintenance tasks, including carriageway and footway patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Attend work briefings to receive instructions and guidance on driving/operating vehicles and plant equipment with both general and specialized skills.
• Participate in 24hr standby rotations during summer and winter for incident response, winter maintenance services, precautionary gritting, and snow clearance.
• Allocate and track time and resource utilization in accordance with the operated allocation system.
• Keep accurate records and complete all necessary paperwork, maintaining communication and liaising with Amey employees, sub-contractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.
