AWE is looking for a Highways Inspector to conduct inspections of highway assets in line with scheduled guidelines. About the job.
The Highways Inspector will be responsible for completing inspections of designated route(s) and highways assets in line with agreed inspections schedules, procedures and standards. Reporting to the Inspector Team Manager you will join a team of Inspectors undertaking safety and asset condition inspections, survey works and signing off on the quality of asset repairs work. You will be required to undertake inspections independently or with another member of the team.
In line with the duties of the role you will be required to travel throughout the strategic road network, so a full clean driving license is essential to be considered. The role will also have on duty responsibilities, and you may be required to work unsociable hours, bank holidays and weekends on a rota basis, or as determined by the Team Manager. There is a requirement to carry out inspections of some assets at night. These inspections are planned and published onto the team rota. We also provide a package of formal training including NRSWA and Highway Inspector Lantra / City & Guilds courses.
This role can be based from our Sandy depot or our Newport Pagnell Depot.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
