Balfour Beatty invites applications for an Electrical Engineer (Highways) to support ITS/technology design across the M25 network, based in Leatherhead. You will assist with design development, reviews, and documentation under senior guidance.

The role requires a relevant electrical/telecom qualification, good IT skills, and a desire to learn within a multidisciplinary team. Hybrid working with some remote options is available, and UK driving is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational qualification (BEng/BSc/HNC/HND in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or similar).
• Interest in pursuing professional registration (IET, IHE or similar).
• Basic understanding of ITS/Technology systems and principles.
• Awareness of engineering standards; learning DMRB, MCHW guidance.
• Good IT and Microsoft Office skills.
• Willingness to learn and work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Hold a current UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ITS/Technology design for assets such as CCTV, signals, VMS, ERT, and MIDAS under supervision.
• Produce drawings, documents, and technical reports.
• Support design reviews for standards compliance.
• Participate in optioneering and basic data gathering.
• Prepare design briefs and inputs for design suppliers.
• Monitor progress against programme and budget and report to seniors.
• Liaise with internal teams and gather information for design stages.
• Prepare technical submissions for the Review Process under the DBFO contract.
• Contribute to quality assurance following CPS standards.
• Participate in site visits, surveys, and inspections (training provided).
• Capture lessons learned and suggest improvements.
• Ensure CDM compliance by supporting Designer duties.
