Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group is seeking a Highway Design Engineer to join their North West Infrastructure team. The role offers flexible hybrid working across the North West and opportunities to work on high-profile residential, commercial, and major infrastructure projects from concept to construction.

You will deliver highway and drainage designs, liaise with clients and authorities, mentor colleagues, and contribute to professional development within a leading global engineering

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in highway and drainage design within a consultancy environment.
• Experience delivering development infrastructure and Section 278, 38, 104 and 185 schemes.
• Knowledge of SuDS design and UK design standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highway and drainage designs for a wide variety of development and infrastructure projects.
• Design and manage S278, S38, S104 and S185 schemes.
• Produce technical reports, calculations, specifications and detailed engineering drawings.
• Design sustainable drainage (SuDS) and development infrastructure solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with DMRB, Building Regulations, Sewers for Adoption and local authority standards.
• Liaise with clients, statutory authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards.

An award-winning international engineering consultancy is seeking an ambitious Highway Design Engineer to join its growing Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile residential, commercial and major infrastructure developments, delivering innovative highway and drainage solutions from concept through to construction.

The Role

As a key member of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll take ownership of the design and delivery of highway and drainage schemes across a varied project portfolio. You'll work closely with clients, local authorities and fellow engineers to develop practical, sustainable and technically robust solutions that make a real impact.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking responsibility, building client relationships and contributing to projects from initial design through to successful delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highway and drainage designs for a wide variety of development and infrastructure projects.
• Design and manage S278, S38, S104 and S185 schemes.
• Produce technical reports, calculations, specifications and detailed engineering drawings.
• Design sustainable drainage (SuDS) and development infrastructure solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with DMRB, Building Regulations, Sewers for Adoption and relevant local authority standards.
• Liaise with clients, statutory authorities and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards are achieved.
• Support technical reviews, quality assurance and risk management activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the ongoing development of the wider team.

About You

You’ll be a motivated Civil or Highway Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and delivering high-quality infrastructure projects.

You’ll ideally have:

• A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in highway and drainage design within a consultancy environment.
• Experience delivering development infrastructure and Section 278, 38, 104 and 185 schemes.
• Knowledge of SuDS design and current UK design standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD together with Civil 3D, Site 3D or PDS.
• Experience using MicroDrainage (or equivalent drainage software).
• A good understanding of statutory approval processes and local authority requirements.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Progress towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE/CIHT) or ambitions to achieve chartership.
• A full UK driving licence.
