VGC Group in Oxfordshire is seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong highways and civil engineering background to oversee delivery of a major road infrastructure project. The role is office-based and focuses on coordinating delivery teams, managing programmes, ensuring safety and quality, and aligning works with project requirements.

You will coordinate site teams, subcontractors, designers and commercial staff, resolve technical issues, monitor progress and look-ahead plans,

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Construction Manager in highways and civil engineering.
• Knowledge of road construction, earthworks, drainage, pavement construction.
• Experience working near live carriageways and high-speed road networks.
• Strong understanding of construction planning, delivery and resource management.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts; CSCS Managers Card and SMSTS; valid UK driving licence.

Responsabilités

• Provide overall leadership and management of construction activities across the project.
• Monitor daily progress and ensure works meet programme, budget and quality requirements.
• Coordinate Site Agents, Section Engineers, Supervisors and subcontractors to meet project objectives.
• Review construction methodologies, temporary works and traffic management arrangements.
• Ensure works adjacent to live traffic are planned and executed safely with minimal disruption to road users.
• Chair and attend progress meetings with operational and commercial teams.
• Identify risks, constraints and opportunities and implement mitigation measures.
• Monitor resources to maximise productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality management systems.
• Liaise with design teams to resolve technical issues and manage design changes.
• Review and approve short-term programmes and construction sequencing.
• Support commercial teams with valuations and subcontractor management.
• Promote a positive safety culture and adherence to company procedures.
