Job summary

ARM is seeking an Asset Operations Officer to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a major urban highway network from a South London site. The role involves working closely with contractors, suppliers and internal teams to keep assets safe, well maintained and operating to required standards.

This is predominantly site-based and may include involvement in an on-call rota; previous highways maintenance or traffic management experience and basic IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Practical highways experience or similar site-based highway operations work.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working with contractors, suppliers or external stakeholders.
• Ability to identify defects, risks and operational issues.
• Ability to work independently and make appropriate operational decisions.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day delivery of regional highway operations alongside contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
• Monitor works and contractor performance to ensure quality, safety and operational standards.
• Carry out site inspections and checks on completed works, including quality and quantity checks.
• Identify defects, risks and opportunities for improvement across the network.
• Support the management of minor works and operational activities.
• Liaise with local authorities, boroughs, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Provide operational input into schemes and projects.
• Assist with responses to incidents and emergencies, helping to minimise disruption and maintain network safety.
• Maintain accurate records and provide operational information and reporting.
• Attend site as required and potentially participate in an on-call rota.
