Job summary

ARM is seeking an Asset Operations Officer to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a major urban highway network from a South London site. The role involves working closely with contractors, suppliers and internal teams to keep assets safe, well maintained and operating to required standards.

This is predominantly site-based and may include involvement in an on-call rota; previous highways maintenance or traffic management experience and basic IT skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Contract: Initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension

Rate: £272.14 per day Umbrella

We are currently recruiting for an Asset Operations Officer to support the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a major urban highway network.

About You

The successful candidate will have practical experience within highways, highway maintenance, street works, road works or traffic management.

You should have

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working with contractors, suppliers or external stakeholders.
• Good understanding of highway operations and maintenance.
• Ability to identify defects, risks and operational issues.
• Ability to work independently and make appropriate operational decisions.
• Basic Excel, database and IT skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective when responding to incidents or working under pressure.

Desirable

• Local authority or public-sector experience.
• Experience of contractor monitoring.
• Experience of network management.
• Knowledge of the London road network.
• Experience using operational asset management or highways systems.
• A full driving licence and willingness to drive a fleet vehicle.

No specific professional qualification is required; practical highways experience is preferred.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced highways professional looking for a longer-term opportunity, with the initial contract expected to run for six months with potential for extension.
