Job summary

National Highways is seeking an Inspector to perform asset condition and safety inspections across the network, with a regular 37-hour week and flexible patterns by agreement. The role involves driving, reporting defects, and supporting engineering teams with up-to-date inspection information.

Ideal candidates will have highways inspection experience, knowledge of maintenance and safety regulations, and strong IT/data capture skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways asset condition inspections or equivalent
• Knowledge of highway asset maintenance and legal aspects
• Good understanding of Health and Safety in highway maintenance
• Proficient IT and data collection, with ability to use data capture devices

Responsibilities

• Carrying out regular driven Safety Inspections and raising work requests for high priority safety defects
• Carrying out cyclical and ad-hoc asset inspections on the network and recording all conditions and findings
• Monitoring event signage and illegal signage and escalating issues
• Supporting regional engineering teams in planning activities with up-to-date inspection information
• Prioritising health, safety and wellbeing needs of customers and colleagues in all activities
