Job summary

Askham Bryan College is seeking a full-time highways tutor to build and run the Highways Academy. You will teach theory and practical learning to apprentices, manage a caseload, and conduct workplace assessments and reviews.

You will recruit new apprentices, source placements, and establish links with local employers to meet skills needs. An enhanced DBS check is required to join the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in the highways sector.

Responsibilities

• Plan, co-ordinate, deliver, assess and review learning activities associated with Highways.
• Teach theory and practical learning to apprentices.
• Manage and monitor the progress of a learner caseload and arrange workplace assessment visits.
• Provide proactive, regular contact with employers.
• Interview applicants and carry out skills analysis and initial assessments for new apprentices and employers.
• Help learners find work placements and build links with local employers to generate repeat business.
• Produce, monitor and update individual training plans for apprentices.
• Conduct work-based assessments and internal verification, and prepare for external verification.
• Develop work-based assessment materials covering skills, knowledge and behaviours.
• Plan, prepare and deliver teaching in line with the college's curriculum needs.
• Visit employers and apprentices at work to carry out reviews and support their progress.
