Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Highways Supervisor for a Goole project. You will oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring safety, quality and alignment with programme on a major highways scheme.

The role requires supervising live construction, coordinating operatives and subcontractors, and maintaining documentation and site records. A strong focus on health and safety, together with CSCS/SSSTS/SMSTS, is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience as Supervisor/Foreman in highways or civil engineering.
• Experience supervising live construction projects.
• Good understanding of drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Relevant health and safety certifications such as SSSTS/SMSTS/CSCS.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day site activities, ensuring safety and quality.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Highways Supervisor, you will play a key role in overseeing daily construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• You will supervise day-to-day site activities, ensuring highways and civil engineering works are completed safely and efficiently.
• You will coordinate site operatives, subcontractors and specialist trades to ensure works progress in line with the construction programme.
• You will work closely with the General Foreman, Site Agent and Works Manager to plan and deliver construction activities.
• You will monitor labour, plant and materials to ensure resources are used effectively and productivity targets are achieved.
• You will ensure works are carried out in accordance with construction drawings, specifications and approved method statements.
• You will maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality across the site.
• You will deliver toolbox talks, daily briefings and safety inspections to promote safe working practices.
• You will identify and report potential programme delays, site issues and operational risks.
• You will maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress updates and labour records.
• You will liaise with Engineers and subcontractors to ensure construction activities are completed to the required standards.

What You'll Need

To be considered for this Highways Supervisor opportunity, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Supervisor, Site Supervisor or Foreman within highways or civil engineering.
• A strong background in highways construction, including earthworks, drainage, road construction or associated infrastructure works.
• Experience supervising site operatives and subcontractors on live construction projects.
• A good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• The ability to coordinate site activities and maintain productivity against programme requirements.
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant industry certifications such as SSSTS or SMSTS and CSCS.
