Job summary

ARM International is seeking a Highways Engineer (Maintenance and Design) in Doncaster on a contract basis. The role includes supervising on-site contractors, ensuring quality and programme delivery, and making sound highway maintenance decisions.

The position is hybrid (3 days on site) with an IR35 status of inside IR35. You will bring Level 3 Civil Engineering qualifications (or equivalent), local authority/highways maintenance experience, and GIS/IT proficiency to coordinate preventative

Qualifications

• Level 3 Civil Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in local authority or highways maintenance work.
• GIS familiarity and standard IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Clerks of Works and oversee contractors on site.
• Ensure specification compliance, quality standards, and programme delivery.
• Make sound engineering decisions relating to highways maintenance works.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance activities across live projects.
• Preventative highway maintenance experience (surface dressing, micro-asphalt, slurry surfacing).
• Strong civil engineering and contractor management background.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience overseeing quality and specification adherence.

Highways Engineer (Maintenance and Design)

£45 per hour (inside IR35)

Contract - Ends April 2027

Location - Doncaster - Hybrid 3 days a week

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a growing highways team following increased capital investment in preventative highway maintenance programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise Clerks of Works and oversee contractors on site
• Ensure specification compliance, quality standards, and programme delivery
• Make sound engineering decisions relating to highways maintenance works
• Coordinate preventative maintenance activities across live projects
