Job Description:

Pulse has recently partnered with one of the UK’s specialist providers of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently looking for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, who can provide overall support for the clinical leadership of the service. This post is based in South East London, which is easily accessible via public transport.

About the role:

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will work in both a 19-bed Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and an 18-bed Neurorehabilitation ward, providing specialist treatment to patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from acquired or traumatic brain injury.

Your main responsibilities as a Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for patients with physical, cognitive, communication, and behavioral difficulties caused by neurological insult and acquired brain injury.
  • Devise evidence-based therapy programs for patients at a specialist level, emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Independently plan and lead communication therapy groups.
  • Supervise less experienced SLTs and/or assistants.
  • Ensure all relevant codes of practice and regulations are upheld.
  • Implement and review policy and service development initiatives.

What we are looking for in a Speech and Language Therapist:

  • HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia is essential.
  • Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework.
