Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist, Band 8a

Permanent - full time (part time hours would be considered)

This is an exciting opportunity to join our forward-thinking and dedicated multi-disciplinary diabetes teams across Bexley and Greenwich. Our team comprises highly specialist nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, psychologists, and medical consultants.

We are looking for a highly specialist clinical/counselling/health psychologist, preferably with experience in physical health, diabetes, and/or long-term conditions, to be part of our multidisciplinary teams.

The postholder will join a dynamic and friendly network of psychologists in physical health within the Adult Community Physical Health Services Directorate. There are regular opportunities for CPD and training in providing reflective practice to other teams within the Directorate. The postholder will be able to network and collaborate with other psychologists working in physical health for collegiate support. Clinical supervision is provided by a Consultant Psychologist, Directorate Head of Psychological Therapies.

Main duties of the job
  1. To provide a specialist psychology service to clients of the Community Diabetes Specialist Teams across Bexley and Greenwich.
  2. To deliver highly specialist psychological assessments and therapy, and offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to colleagues and non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and team policies.
  3. To facilitate reflective practice groups within the directorate.
  4. To utilize research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research within the team/service area.

Job description

Person Specification
Education
  • Essential: Doctoral training in clinical/counselling/health psychology (BPS accredited), HCPC registration
  • Desirable: Further post-qualification doctoral training, expertise in specific therapies
Experience
  • Essential: At least 12 months of specialist psychological assessment and treatment experience across care settings
  • Desirable: Experience in physical health services
Skills and Knowledge
  • Essential: Skills in complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management
  • Desirable: Consultation skills, group work, supervision training
