Job summary

We are seeking a Band 7 Highly Specialist Physiotherapist with experience in managing chronic conditions to join the Chronic Pain Self Management Team at St George's Hospital.

The Chronic Pain Self Management Team (CPSMT) is a multidisciplinary team providing specialist assessments and interventions for individuals with complex chronic pain. Our goal is to help patients develop self-management skills to improve their quality of life, focusing on understanding pain, enhancing function, and reducing distress and unnecessary healthcare use.

Main duties include:

  1. Delivering self-management interventions in group and individual settings for patients with complex chronic pain.
  2. Applying psychologically informed approaches in clinical practice and case discussions.
  3. Establishing and maintaining links with hospital and community services to improve care pathways.
  4. Teaching and training other health professionals.

The role offers regular supervision from a senior physiotherapist, with ongoing professional development through monthly CPD sessions, team handovers, and case discussions.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential):

  • Minimum 4 years post-registration experience, including 2 years in outpatient musculoskeletal physiotherapy at Band 6, involving referrals from consultants, GPs, rheumatology, orthopaedics, and chronic pain management.
  • Good knowledge of complex pain syndromes and experience working with long-term conditions.
